An #EndSARS protester Eromosele Adene has said advocates for change in the country “should not expect to fight tyranny and think you won’t be locked up”.
Adene was a guest on ARISE News and urged youths to be constructive in their criticisms going forward and called on authorities to do away with profiling of citizens.
“The issue is profiling. People see Nigerian youths and expect to see violence, they see us with our hairs like this (points to his dreadlocks) and expect to see a fraudulent person, he said.
According to the youth activist: “I can assure you if you go through my emails, all the emails I have set up since I was born, you will see nothing fraudulent in it, you will see nothing fraudulent in my account balances, in my bank accounts, not everybody is who you think they are because of how they look.
“I don’t see any reason why I should be violent or be angry, somethings are meant to happen, with what happened, you don’t expect to be fighting tyranny and think you will not be locked u, so it was meant to happen.
“But beyond all these, it’s about constructive criticism, yes, I am pissed about what happened, but the way forward, you have to be constructive about it, and when you keep criticising and criticising it becomes a nag
In November, Adene was granted bail by the Yaba Magistrates Court after he was picked up by authorities on charges bothering on criminal incitement, cyberstalking, provoking a breach of public peace, and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.
