A 28-year-old woman in Australia has been charged with the theft of a delivery van containing 10,000 Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The incident occurred in the early hours of 29 November when the van went missing from a Sydney suburb petrol station.
Police discovered the abandoned delivery van a week later in a car park, finding thousands of spoiled doughnuts inside. The woman was arrested on Thursday and faces charges, including vehicle theft and driving while disqualified. She was refused bail.
CCTV footage allegedly shows the woman lingering at the service station around 04:00 local time on 29 November before entering the unattended delivery van and driving away. It remains unclear whether she was aware of the doughnuts’ presence in the vehicle. The stolen haul included both Christmas-themed and classic doughnuts, according to reports.
Krispy Kreme promptly reported the incident to the police and assured customers that efforts were underway to replace the 10,000 stolen doughnuts. The woman is now set to appear in court to face the charges brought against her.
