We’re Prepared For Any Election in Nigeria, APC Governors

.

Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extraction under the aegis of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) have said the party is prepared to go into any election contest any time.

Arise News reports that the governorship election in Edo and Ondo States have been scheduled for September 21 2024.

According to them, the N585 million scam involving the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Beta Edu and other public servants is just an allegation that is being investigated.

The PGF explained that it is only after the completion of the investigation and the report made public that the government will now take final decision.

The chairman of the PGF and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, stated these in an interview with journalists after their meeting which ended very late on Wednesday night.

“Our party is prepared to go into any election any time”, he said.

Other Governors at the meeting included Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Yahaya Inuwa (Gombe), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Lucky Aiyetadiwa (Ondo), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi)

and Uba Sani (Kaduna), Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq (Kwara), Bassey Otu (Cross River) and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun).

While maintaining their unity in supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and take his policies to the grassroots and sub-national leaders, the APC Governors told Nigerians not to be in a hurry but should avoid any sickness like “anxietyserosis.”

Uzodinma said, “This is the first meeting since the beginning of this year and the meeting afforded us the opportunity to review the goings on in the country and we also agreed on how best to continue to support our government and our  party with a view to maximising the  benefits of the current policies of the administration.

“The Progressives Governors are united in supporting the APC administration led by our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We will continue to support him. We will take his policies to the grassroots and sub-national leaders of our great party and ensure that our people come on the same page with the thinking of the government.

“The important objective is how to secure the country and provide adequate welfare to the good people of our dear country. The functions of a government  include encouraging good things, good appointees and discouraging bad things and bad appointees.

“But as it has to do with what you just said (N585 million scam), it’s just an allegation and in the wisdom of the President, it is being investigated. It is after the investigation is completed and the report made available to government that the government will now take final decision. So don’t be in a hurry and don’t allow any sickness like “anxietyserosis.”
