We’re Committed To Alleviating Economic Crisis In Osun, Governor Adeleke Says As He Inaugurates Food Security Committee

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed that the state government is diligently working to alleviate the economic challenges faced by its citizens.

Speaking during the inauguration of the State Food Security Committee in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing the current economic crisis through various pro-people programs.

Adeleke said, “As a government in love with the people, we are doing a lot to cushion the effect of the hard time on our people. We have introduced so many policy options to ease the burden of the populace. Our administration has deployed the full machinery of government to attend to the immediate needs of the citizenry.”

Acknowledging the deepening economic conflict and President Muhammadu Buhari’s briefing to state Governors on the state of the nation, Adeleke highlighted the government’s proactive measures in several areas.

To further combat economic challenges, the governor announced the establishment of the State Food Security Committee, aimed at securing access to food and enhancing the food production and distribution process.

A statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, showed that the committee is tasked with suggesting measures to strengthen farm security, expanding farming activities through state incentives, organizing a Back to Farm Youth Conference, monitoring foodstuff marketing and pricing, reviewing ongoing palliative measures, and recommending immediate actions to reduce economic hardship.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the urgency of the committee’s work, urging members to produce an interim report within the next few days. He stated, “We need to address issues of the moment with the required focus. This is an important assignment. Your report will receive the full attention of my team.”

In response, Committee Chairman, Hon. Tola Faseru, who also serves as the Commissioner for Agriculture, assured the Governor of the committee’s commitment to delivering on their terms of reference. He said, “We will work extra hard to deliver on the task at hand. We understand the seriousness of the assignment. We thank Mr. Governor for the opportunity.”
