Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has again promised to deal decisively with criminal elements that have taken up arms against the peace of the country and its citizens.
Mr Buhari also reassured citizens that he will spare no effort in ensuring that the security challenges currently faced in the country are tackled.
The Nigerian leader who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, was speaking on Monday in the capital, Abuja at a conference organised for youths in the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
“As you are all aware, we are currently dealing with some internal security challenges and I would like to reassure you that as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, no effort will be spared in tackling them,” he said.
“As I have repeatedly said in recent weeks, every criminal element that has taken up arms against the peace of the country and its citizens will be brought to book accordingly.”
While the president has in recent years been accused of nepotism and favoritism in his appointments, he told the gathering that all his appointments and policies have been based on “equity and inclusiveness”.
According to Mr Buhari, there is no part of the country that has not been “impacted positively in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture and economic support initiative based on peculiarities of the regions.”
“So far, all the policies, initiatives, projects and even appointments by this administration have been guided by equity and inclusiveness,” he said.
