We Won’t Owe Contractors, We Won’t Accept Excuses, Says FCT Minister Wike

Minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike says the administration would not owe contractors as the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the capital city would be used to complete specific projects.

Wike, stated in a statement on his twitter account, said that he and the FCT minister of state had met with contractors managing important projects that had been abandoned in the city.

According to him, the meeting provided an opportunity to share ideas and create a functioning strategy to ensure that contractors return to the site and finish their projects.

“To achieve this goal, the FCTA would be doing things differently. We would tie our Internally Generated Revenue to specific projects to ensure they are adequately funded,”

“We also wouldn’t spread ourselves too thin but focus on completing a set of projects per period.

“We wouldn’t owe contractors and we wouldn’t accept excuses. They would be closely and carefully monitored to ensure they are finished within our set schedule and specifications.” The statement read

Also speaking during the meeting, Wike said strategies and structure funding will be mapped out to the ensure completion of all roads in the capital territory.

“I am determined to get every contractor back to site with direct supervision from my office and the office of the Minister of State,” he said.

“The major problem we are having in this country is the problem of supervision and so we are not going to tolerate anything below standard.

“If there are people you have been working with that have compromised standards, too bad, too bad; not with me. I am not going to accept anything that is below standard.”
