Slogans have long been used as powerful tools to convey messages and rally support for various causes. In Nigeria, the slogan “We No Go Gree for Anybody” has recently gained popularity among Nigerian youths. While the Nigeria Police condemned it, claiming that it might have originated from revolutionary groups, the Nigerian Army embraced it as part of their 2024 slogan. As a father and supporter of the positive energies of the progressive youths of Nigeria, I wish to align myself, with this very apt slogan and the Nigerian Army’s endorsement of the slogan, which also aligns with the position of the Arise TV quartet of Ojy Okpe, Reuben Abati, Rufai Oseni and Ayo Mario-Ese, on the What’s Trending program.
The slogan “We No Go Gree for Anybody” should be seen as a positive rallying cry for Nigerian youths, expressing their dissatisfaction with the status quo and their determination to effect positive change, for a better Nigeria in line with the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Despite the Nigeria Police’s reservations, the Nigerian Army’s support for the slogan signifies a recognition of the legitimate expression of patriotism of the Nigerian youths. It is important that at this stage of our country, that we listen and appreciate the involvement of the youths in the economic and social development of the country.
In this article, I will like to explore the implications and consequences of the police stance on the slogan and my alignment with the Nigerian Army and Arise TV anchors.
First, reflecting the Voice of the Youth:
The slogan “We No Go Gree for Anybody” resonates with Nigerian youths who have over the years been marginalized and disillusioned by the past and prevailing socio-economic and political conditions, especially, the rate of unemployment. It encapsulates their frustration and determination to challenge the existing status quo, which is as a result of past years of maladministration and the inherited comatose economy in the country that have failed to address their concerns. By adopting this slogan, the Nigerian Army acknowledges the importance of listening to the voice of the youth and their aspirations for a better future.
Secondly, recognizing Civic Engagement:
The disagreement of the stance of the police by the Arise TV program under reference, reflects the sentiments of many Nigerians. The program which serves as a platform for open dialogue and encourages civic engagement, allowing diverse perspectives to be heard, received a lot of positive feedback from viewers and commentators. By supporting the slogan, the program promotes active citizenship and empowers the youth to participate in shaping the nation’s destiny.
Thirdly, fostering Unity and Solidarity:

The slogan “We No Go Gree for Anybody” is now gaining traction and ought to be seen as a powerful expression of the Nigerian youth’s determination to effect positive change in their country, in line with the ReNewed Hope of President Bola Tinubu government’s mantra. While the Nigeria Police condemned it, the Nigerian Army’s endorsement, along with the support from the Arise TV program, signifies a recognition of the legitimate grievances of the youth to pursue peace, without compromising their dignity. By embracing this slogan, the Army promotes unity, encourages civic engagement, and reflects the aspirations of the Nigerian people. It is crucial for all stakeholders to listen to the voices of the youth and work together towards a brighter future for a greater Nigeria.
