Victor Osimhen Fires Back at ‘Finidi George Comments’ Questioning His Commitment 

Napoli Striker Osimhen, expressing disappointment, criticised former Super Eagles Coach Finidi’s alledged comments questioning his commitment to 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has publicly responded to former Super Eagles coach Finidi George’s  remarks questioning his commitment to Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers. 

The incident has sparked a significant debate within the Nigerian football community.

There are reports that Finidi George had earlier suggested that Osimhen, despite his injury, could have managed to play in Nigeria’s crucial qualifiers this month. 

However, this comment did not sit well with Osimhen, who had twisted his ankle and was ruled out for four weeks.

Osimhen who took to his to Instagram page, defended himself, stating, “I asked Finidi George to allow me to stay with the players in the camp, but Finidi asked me not to bother, that I should stay with my family. Now, after two bad games, everybody is blaming me. I know how many injuries I’ve played with for Nigeria and I played my heart out, but after two bad games, everybody is attacking me.”

The 25-year-old striker, pivotal for both Napoli and the Nigerian national team, expressed his deep disappointment and loss of respect for Finidi. 

“I have lost every respect I have for him,” Osimhen added, highlighting a significant rift within the Nigerian football community.

Osimhen’s response has fueled a heated debate among fans and analysts about player commitment and management decisions, underscoring the tensions that can arise in the high-stakes world of international football.
