Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to participate in the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE).
The conference, themed ‘Policies and Strategy for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries’, is set to take place at the Abidjan Exhibition Centre from 27 November to 2 December.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, explained that the event aims to convene key stakeholders from the mining, petroleum, and energy industries worldwide.
Upon his arrival in Abidjan, Vice-President Shettima was welcomed by Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Diaspora, as well as Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, the Minister of Mines, Oil and Energy.
Nkwocha described the exhibition as an important platform for industry leaders to engage in collaboration, foster investment opportunities, and share expertise, with a focus on promoting sustainable growth within African economies.
He further stated, “The vice-president will utilise this opportunity to share Nigeria’s experience in the hydrocarbon exploration and production sectors.”
According to Nkwocha, Vice-President Shettima is expected to return to Abuja later today following his participation in the event.
