Athletics legend Usain Bolt has moved to trademark a logo of himself in his signature pose — a silhouette of his arms pointing across his body toward the sky.
Bolt made the application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office last week, with the filing suggesting he intends to use the logo on clothing, jewellery and shoes, as well as sports bars and restaurants.
“The mark consists of the silhouette of a man in a distinctive pose, with one arm bent and pointing to the head, and the other arm raised and pointing upward,” the filing states.
The Jamaican sprinter still holds the 100m and 200m world records, which he broke in an extraordinarily successful career that saw him win eight Olympic gold medals across Games in Beijing, London and Rio.
Bolt, 36, retired from athletics in 2017 and flirted with professional football before declaring his “sports life over” in January 2019.
