Two teenage brothers in Florida have been arrested following a fatal shooting that occurred during a heated dispute over Christmas presents. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 23-year-old woman, identified as the sister, lost her life after being shot in the chest by her teenage brother. The incident unfolded while she carried her 10-month-old son in a carrier.
According to Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the altercation escalated when the older brother, aged 15, fired a retaliation shot and then fled the scene, discarding his weapon. The 14-year-old younger brother, who sustained injuries in the incident, is currently in stable condition at a local hospital and will be taken into custody upon release.
The Florida sheriff’s office disclosed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute over Christmas presents, highlighting the tragic consequences of the escalating argument. The older brother faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
Authorities revealed that the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, with internal bleeding preventing her ability to breathe. Fortunately, the 10-month-old baby in the carrier emerged unharmed from the ordeal.
The investigation will now be reviewed by local prosecutors to determine whether the 14-year-old will be charged as an adult for the killing of his sister.
