Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has won in eight states, bringing her current total to 71 electoral votes as early results continue to come in.
Harris’s wins include Illinois, where she garnered 425,566 votes, and Massachusetts, with 61,347 votes. In Vermont, another reliable blue state, she received 119,502 votes.
The candidate also claimed victories in Rhode Island with 158,295 votes, Connecticut with 35,940 votes, and New Jersey with a substantial 762,564 votes.
Additionally, Harris secured Maryland with 5,558 votes and Delaware with 140,839 votes.
Harris’s 71 electoral votes are an encouraging start for her campaign, particularly as her team shifts its attention to the swing states where both candidates are vying for critical support.
