The United States has announced a pledge of approximately $47 million in new humanitarian assistance to support emergency response efforts in Sudan and its neighbouring countries, including Chad and South Sudan, according to a statement released by the U.S. State Department on Wednesday.
This commitment brings the total U.S. humanitarian assistance for individuals in Sudan and neighbouring nations to over $968 million since the fiscal year 2023, as confirmed by the State Department.
The aid aims to address urgent humanitarian needs, including food insecurity, access to clean water, healthcare services, and other vital support for vulnerable populations affected by conflicts and humanitarian crises in the region.
