US And Iran To Hold Second Round Of Nuclear Talks In Rome, Italy Confirms

US and Iran to hold second nuclear talks in Rome after “positive” Oman talks, Italy’s foreign minister confirms.

A second round of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran is set to take place in Rome, following recent “positive” and “constructive” discussions in Oman, according to Italy’s Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani.

Tajani, speaking at the World Expo exhibition in Osaka, Japan, confirmed the development to Italian news agency ANSA. He revealed that Italy agreed to host the meeting after receiving a formal request from both negotiating parties and Oman, which is mediating the talks.

“We received a request from the interested parties and from Oman, which is playing the role of mediator, and we have given a positive response,” Tajani stated.

He added that Rome has historically played host to similar negotiations and reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts. “Italy is prepared to do everything it takes to support all negotiations that can lead to a resolution of the nuclear issue and to building peace,” he said.

The second round of discussions is reportedly scheduled for Saturday, according to a report by US news outlet Axios, which cited anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

The talks follow Saturday’s meeting in Oman, where US and Iranian officials described their discussions as “positive” and indicated willingness to continue diplomatic engagement.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, who has previously threatened military action if Iran’s nuclear programme is not curtailed, told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday that he had been briefed by advisers and expected a decision soon. “The Iran situation is going pretty good, I think,” he said, offering no further details.

The renewed dialogue marks a significant step amid long-standing tensions over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and Rome’s involvement reflects growing international support for a peaceful resolution.
