UN Reports 653 Aid Trucks Entering Gaza As Ceasefire Between Israel And Hamas Holds

UN says 653 aid trucks entered Gaza on Thursday, following the fifth day of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has confirmed that 653 aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip on Thursday, marking the fifth day of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas militants.

According to OCHA, the information was provided by Israeli authorities and the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement, which include the United States, Egypt, and Qatar.

The influx of aid comes as humanitarian agencies work to address the dire needs of Gaza’s population, following weeks of conflict that caused widespread destruction and a critical shortage of essential supplies. The ceasefire has allowed for increased access to the territory, facilitating the delivery of food, medicine, and other vital resources.

Efforts by international stakeholders to uphold the truce have been crucial in ensuring that aid reaches the affected population without further escalation. However, humanitarian organisations continue to call for sustained access to Gaza to alleviate the ongoing crisis.
