Ukraine Faces Massive Strikes on Energy Facilities, Says Energy Minister

Ukraine’s Energy Minister has confirmed Russia’s massive strikes on the energy infrastructure, causing widespread blackouts and air raid alerts.

Russia has initiated a “massive strike” on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, according to the nation’s energy minister.

Reports of explosions have surfaced across multiple cities. Herman Halushchenko announced on Facebook that energy facilities throughout Ukraine were under attack, resulting in emergency power outages.

On Thursday morning, Ukraine’s air force issued a nationwide air raid warning due to a potential missile threat. Authorities have stated that Russia has conducted approximately 1,500 air strikes in recent days, affecting about half of Ukraine’s regions.

The air force has also warned of incoming missiles, rockets, and drones targeting various regions, including Kyiv, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi, Balta, and Mykolaiv. Kharkiv’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, reported shelling in a civilian area, while Lutsk’s mayor, Ihor Polishchuk, noted multiple explosions and power outages in parts of the city.

Local media outlet Zerkalo Tyzhnya reported explosions in the crucial port city of Odesa, with regional governor Oleg Kiper advising residents to remain in safe locations.
