Uba Sani: FG To Start Rebuilding Kaduna Community Accidentally Struck By Military Airstrikes In Two Weeks

Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has said the federal government will begin the rebuilding of the Tudun-Biri community – which was accidentally hit by a drone strike from the Nigerian army – in the next two weeks.

The governor, while speaking on the developments in the security situation in Kaduna State in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Sunday, also revealed that his administration is setting up committees, as well as partnering with the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) to set up bases in Kaduna in order to improve the state’s security situation.

In December 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised to rebuild the Tudun-Biri Community through the Pullako Initiative after the Nigerian Army accidentally launched a strike on innocent citizens as a drone had misconstrued the citizens, who were celebrating a religious festival, for bandits.

The federal government had promised that the community will receive a complete package, inclusive of houses, clinics, schools, veterinary clinics, solar energy, empowerment initiatives, and others.

Regarding this, Sani said to ARISE NEWS, “The government has started the planning, and by the grace of God, in the next two weeks, from what we discussed with the president and the vice president, the project will start. What really delayed the project is because we need to sit down with the community for them to agree on a particular location, and the Kaduna State government has already cleared the land on behalf of the federal government, and the federal government will start the project in two weeks.”

The governor also addressed the insecurity in Kaduna State and how his administration intends to solve the problem as he said that he has received approval from the Defence Headquarters for DHQ bases to be set up in Kaduna State to further combat insecurity.

Sani also said, “Only last week, we also agreed at the level of our own security council meeting to set up security trust funds in Kaduna State, and of course, in the next one week, I will inaugurate the committee which will include and involve traditional rulers, business community, duty agencies, as well as some members of the government. Because I believe that is the only way to be able to tackle the problem of insecurity.”

The governor, who recently triumphed at the electoral tribunal as the Supreme Court affirmed him as the duly elected governor of Kaduna State, said, “I don’t consider that victory as a personal glory, I believe it is about Kaduna State,” saying that he planned to move forward in his agenda to better Kaduna state, saying that he invites all people to work with him to better Kaduna State, regardless of their party affiliations.

On developments that his government was striving towards in the state, he said, “As we are speaking, we have did the groundbreaking of more than 7 roads in Southern Kaduna that link up virtually all the local governments. Only few weeks ago, we did the one of a local government that connects about 22 villages and communities that will link markets with farms. Because we believe we need to also push in our rural transformation drive, we believe we need to close the deficit in terms of level of development between the urban and rural areas of Kaduna State, and that’s the only way we can be able to be fair to everyone.”
