After four days of vote counting, President-Elect Donald Trump has been projected to win Arizona, marking his victory across all seven critical swing states in the 2024 US presidential election.
This win grants Trump a decisive 312 electoral votes over Kamala Harris’s 226, cementing his path to the White House.
Trump’s campaign strategy focused heavily on swing states, a gamble that appears to have paid off, as he successfully captured crucial states including Arizona, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Arizona’s late declaration gave him the final push over the line, concluding a closely watched race.
Looking ahead to his second term, Trump has made clear that he will not rehire former administration figures Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo.
Instead, emerging shortlists suggest he is considering prominent names, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is tipped for a potential cabinet position, and John Ratcliffe, former Director of National Intelligence, who is speculated to be Trump’s pick for CIA director.
In a significant step toward transition, Trump is scheduled to meet with outgoing President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday, marking their first encounter since the election. This meeting is expected to set the tone for the administration handover.
