Trump, Putin to Discuss ‘Land’ and ‘Dividing Assets’ in Scheduled Call As EU Sues For Peace In Ukraine

EU leaders have pushed for peace in Ukraine as Trump and Putin prepare to discuss geopolitical and energy issues

US President Donald Trump announced that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss various issues, including “land,” “power plants,” and “dividing up certain assets” during a scheduled call on Tuesday.

The Kremlin confirmed the planned call but remained tight-lipped about the specific topics, including whether territorial disputes and Ukraine’s energy infrastructure would be addressed. Trump’s comments suggest potential short-term solutions, such as establishing clearer contact lines or negotiating access to key resources like the Black Sea ports.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Russian drone attacks persist, with Ukrainian officials reporting ongoing civilian casualties and power outages across several regions. The latest casualties include a local resident in Donetsk and a 65-year-old woman killed by mortar fire in Sumy.

Ukraine continues to urge evacuations from border areas amid the escalating attacks.

In Brussels, the EU Foreign Affairs Council convened to discuss ongoing diplomatic efforts for peace, with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha urging the use of all diplomatic tools to pressure Russia into accepting peace proposals.

European leaders, including French President Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Carney, reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty while pressing Russia for clear commitments.

The war’s toll continues, with Russia leveraging its numerical advantage and producing vast quantities of drones and munitions, which have proven devastating on the battlefield. As international leaders gather, the future of Ukraine remains uncertain, with both military and diplomatic efforts intensifying in the face of an ongoing crisis.
