US President Donald Trump has been taken to a military hospital for treatment after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
The 74-year-old was moved to a special suite at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, for the next few days as a precautionary measure, according to a White House official.
Doctors reportedly urged the move so Trump could get immediate care if needed.
Earlier on Friday, officials said the president was showing mild symptoms of Covid-19. His chief of staff said he was “on the job” and “in good spirits”, but his physician also said he was “fatigued”.
President Trump is at high risk because of his age and weight. He has remained in good health during his time in office but is not known to exercise regularly.
The news comes just over a month before presidential elections, where he will face Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
