Trump Considers Kevin Warsh for Treasury Secretary, Role Of Chairman Of Federal Reserve

Trump is considering Kevin Warsh for Treasury Secretary, with a future possibility of him becoming Fed Chairman.

US President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly considering appointing Kevin Warsh as Treasury Secretary, with the possibility of later nominating him as Chairman of the Federal Reserve.

The potential arrangement was discussed during a meeting between Trump and Warsh, a former investment banker and Federal Reserve Board member, at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort on Wednesday, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Sources familiar with the matter said that Trump and Warsh discussed the idea, but no official announcement has been made.

The arrangement would involve Warsh initially taking on the Treasury Secretary role before potentially transitioning to lead the Federal Reserve, should a vacancy arise.

Trump is also weighing the appointment of Scott Bessent, a veteran hedge fund investor and former Yale University professor, to head the White House National Economic Council. Bessent, sources said, could later be nominated to replace Warsh as Treasury Secretary.

However, the Wall Street Journal cautioned that Trump may still opt for a different candidate altogether.

Other names being considered for the Treasury position include Marc Rowan, co-founder of Apollo Global Management, US Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, and Robert Lighthizer, who served as Trump’s US Trade Representative throughout much of his presidency.

As of now, no final decisions have been made, and Trump’s team has yet to confirm any appointments.
