Sonny Iroche, the leader of the Abia League of Professionals, on Wednesday in an interview on ARISE News, expressed his perplexity concerning the ethnic profiling witnessed during elections in some parts of the country and which Nigeria’s President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recently condemned.
He spoke about his ancestry; a well-known Igbo man with a Sierra Leonean mother who not only lives in Lagos but also has family members who have married into Yoruba families as well.
He denounced the prejudice exhibited towards Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour because of his Igbo ancestry.
According to Iroche, tribalism only exists at the level of poverty, not practiced by the nation’s elite.
“The beauty of it is for us to understand that we are human beings. Let us see each as Nigerians and Africans.”
