Rapper Travis Scott has reportedly been arrested in Paris following a fight with his bodyguard, as confirmed by French authorities.
The 33-year-old American musician is accused of assaulting a security guard who intervened during an altercation between Scott and another man at the five-star George V hotel on Friday morning. French prosecutors informed Reuters and AFP news agencies that they have launched a criminal investigation into “unspecified violence” against the guard.
On Thursday night, Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was spotted at Team USA’s Olympic basketball game against Serbia. He was seen seated alongside American entrepreneur Michael Rubin and fellow rapper Quavo, the former lead member of the hip-hop group Migos.
Earlier this year, Scott was arrested in Miami following a dispute on a private yacht.
According to showbiz news site TMZ, prosecutors dropped a disorderly intoxication charge, but Scott still faces a trespassing charge. Scott, a 10-time Grammy Award nominee, is one of the world’s leading hip-hop artists.
He was previously in a relationship with Kylie Jenner, and they share two children. In 2021, 10 fans tragically lost their lives during a crowd surge at Scott’s Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas.
Although Scott did not face criminal charges for the incident, he is still involved in civil lawsuits claiming that the event’s organisers were responsible.
Last year, he achieved his first UK number one album with “Utopia,” released shortly after a planned performance in front of Egypt’s pyramids was cancelled.
