Tottenham Return to Top of Premier League After Stalemate With London Rivals Chelsea

A cagey 0-0 draw was enough to lift Tottenham back to the top of the table, ahead of defending champions Liverpool on goal difference as neither Chelsea nor their london rivals spurs took the chance to significantly enhance their Premier League title credentials at Stamford Bridge.

The point however will make Jose Mourinho the happier of the managers, with Chelsea having had the better of a tepid affair.

Timo Werner had a first-half strike ruled out for offside, while Mason Mount’s late strike, which was well saved by Hugo Lloris, was as close as either side came to breaking the deadlock.

The visitors occasionally threatened in the first half on the break, pouncing on any error to flood forward at speed.

Tottenham right back Serge Aurier forced Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy into a save with a fierce shot in the 15th minute, and left back Sergio Reguilon also stretched the hosts.

In added time, Chelsea substitute Olivier Giroud was unable to capitalise on an error by Welshman Joe Rodon on his Spurs debut as the French striker hit a tame shot straight at Lloris.
