Tilewa Adebajo, an economist and chief executive officer of The CFG Advisory says there’s too much wastage in the Nigerian governance structure and called for the implementation of the Oronsaye report.
The Oronsaye Committee was set up by former President Goodluck Jonathan to essentially reduce the cost of governance, eliminate duplication of functions in government departments and agencies and reasonably devolve governmental powers. But since 2014, it remains unlikely if the 268 recommendations of the committee will be implemented.
Mr Adebajo who featured on ARISE News on Friday said reducing the cost of governance in Nigeria will have to do with a lot of political will and leadership.
He also called on the sale of some of the presidential fleet, a 10 per cent reduction of salaries and statutory allocations of lawmakers as well as those in the judiciary and executive.
