Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Sunday Dare failed to provide the required leadership amidst the crisis that rocked the country’s preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, that’s according to former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalong.
Mr Dalong in an interview with ARISE News on Thursday said the “entire show of shame” was as a result of the parties involved sacrificing national interest over personal interest.
According to Mr Dalong, the shameful Olympics outing was expected as the Sports Minister dissolved the several national sporting federations a month before the Olympics which affected officials who have trained the country’s athletes for more than two years.
He likened the move by the minister to disband the federations as a commander in chief who sacks his general on the eve of an attack of an enemy and expects to win the war.
