Tinubu’s Song Of Allegiance In Parliament + Akpabio Asks Tinubu To Ban Ministers’ Travel – Trending With Ojy Okpe

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented the 2024 budget proposal of N27.5trn Naira at the joint session of the national assembly on Wednesday. While many Nigerians have expressed concern about the projected expenditure of the budget, Senate president, Godswill Akabio assured the president that lawmakers will consider the budget. Akpabio further advised the President not to allow his cabinet members travel when they are expected to defend the budget at the National Assembly.

Another reaction from the joint session of the National Assembly was the song of allegiance, ‘On your mandate, we shall stand’ which was used to usher in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before he presented the Budget.

The Kogi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dino Melaye, on Wednesday, announced that he will not challenge the electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress before the state election petition tribunal. Melaye who came third in the election, alleged that the judiciary is no longer independent but a department of the APC, and called on all opposition political parties of Nigeria to boycott all future elections until the current INEC constituted by APC members is dissolved.

The hashtags #FreeJatau on social media has been used to demand for the release of Rhoda Jatau, a Christian woman who has been detained for 18 months in Bauchi State, for allegedly protesting the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto state, who was set ablaze last year by Islamic extremists, after she advised her classmates not to post religious materials on a WhatsApp group page, Rhoda Jatau a mother of five children, reportedly posted a video condemning the act.

She was said to have been arrested and charged with inciting public disturbance, contempt of religious creed and cyber-stalking under the Penal Code and the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
