Tinubu’s CoS Debunks N10BN Residence + CSO Demand Wike’s Resignation – Trending With Ojy Okpe

The Chief Of Staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, has debunked reports alleging that N10 billion naira was earmarked for the renovation of the his residence. President Tinubu on November 29th presented the 2024 budget proposal of N27.5 trillion Naira to the national assembly for consideration.

The proposed budget showed that the presidency through the office of the chief of staff is expected to spend N5 billion naira for the renovation of Dodan Barracks Presidential Lodge and another N5 billion Naira for the renovation of the Vice President quarters in Lagos.

Gbajabiamila, in a post on X, clarified the position stating that he lives in his private residence contrary to claims that there is a provision for the renovation of his house in the budget.

The proposed 2024 budget also revealed staggering allocations of N61.29 billion for renovation and construction of buildings, while an additional N6.82 billion Naira was earmarked for vehicle purchases.

In Dubai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, on Wednesday, announced during the ongoing COP28 climate summit that Nigeria aims to have the largest electric mass transit fleet in Africa.

The minister, also stated that the country is leading the fight against climate change in Africa, by setting ambitious and realistic goals and that the country will increase its electric bus size from 100 to 1,000. However, in Nigeria, a video that has been making the rounds on social media showed a fleet of buses undergoing restoration at the federal secretariat in Abuja.

The buses are said to have been acquired to address transportation challenges worsened by the recent fuel subsidy removal.

Civil society organisations, under the aegis of the Network of Civil Societies for Economic Sustainability trooped out in their numbers, on Wednesday, in the federal capital territory, and staged a protest at the national assembly complex to demand the resignation of Nyesom Wike as FCT minister. The protesters allege that Wike has been inconsiderate to the plight of FCT residents, and that his actions have been detrimental to the progress and growth needed in the FCT and the nation at large.

The Director-General, of the World Trade Orgainzation, Ngozi Okonji-Iweala, and media mogul, Mo Abudu, have made the Forbes list of the world’s 100 most powerful women. The Forbes list was released on Tuesday, and it includes 100 women who have performed excellently well in various fields, such as business, media, politics, entertainment, and technology. Okonjo-Iweala, who has worked for the World Bank, Nigeria’s Ministry of Finance, and the World Trade Organisation, has been vocal about how economies can become more inclusive when women’s unique experiences are considered in economic planning.

The magazine hailed Mo Abudu as a media mogul and philanthropist who has changed the game in Nollywood as the founder of Ebony Life Media, with a slate of films that includes, The King’s Horseman,The Wedding Party and more.
