Tinubu Won’t Pay Ransom To Kidnappers+ Police Tells Nigerians To Arrest Criminals – Trending With Ojy Okpe

As Nigeria continues to grapple with the spate of kidnappings, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, announced that no ransom will be paid for the rescue of the children abducted in Kaduna State.

Briefing State House Correspondents after the Federal executive council meeting, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris, said that Tinubu also directed security agencies to ensure that the children are rescued and brought back to safety.

The Nigeria police force have called on citizens to begin arresting criminals so as to help the police force tackle worsening insecurity in Nigeria.

The spokesperson for the police force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi made the appeal on Wednesday, in a post on X, charging Nigerians to exercise their powers as a people to curb insecurity in Nigeria.

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has said that his administration has taken measures aimed at reducing insecurity in the country’s capital.

Addressing journalists shortly after a closed door security meeting with the Senate on Wednesday, Wike also stated that with the measures put in place, the incidence of kidnappings and banditry has drastically reduced.

The Islamic police, known as the Hisbah, in Kano, on Wednesday detained 11 Muslims for breaking the Ramadan fast by eating. Hisbah spokesperson, Lawal Fagge reported the arrest of 10 men and one female groundnut vendor caught eating from her wares. The arrests were said to have followed tips from onlookers.

The hisbah spokesperson further stated that the Islamic police does not arrest non-Muslims because the rules don’t apply to them; and that the only time Non-Muslims could be found guilty of the crime; is when they they cook food to sell to Muslims that are supposed to be fasting.

The 11 accused were later absolved of their crimes after vowing to abstain from food or drink.
