A group of Yoruba Nation activists seeking self-determination for the Yoruba speaking states in Nigeria took to the streets in Ondo State, re-echoing calls for secession from Nigeria.
The protesters were Armed with placards bearing varying inscriptions, they called for the emancipation of the Yoruba Nation in the wake of the ongoing economic hardship and rising cost of living.
An old video showing vice president Kashim Shettima bemoaning the level of poverty back in 2012 when he was the governor of Borno State has made rounds on social media. Shettima in the video narrated how a group of young boys broke the windshield of his friend’s car yelling expletives because they appeared affluent, while the masses suffered.

Senior advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has faulted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his trip to France. Falana in an interview on Sunday, said Tinubu’s visit to France is embarrassing to Nigeria, especially as the French government has not recognised his presence. Falana gave an example of how France recognized the Private Visit of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulakpo-Kuti, at the invitation of former President Francois Mitterrand and wondered why a Nigerian president would travel to the same country for the same purpose and not get an official recognition. Falana hoped that it would be the last time that a president of Nigeria will expose the country to embarrassment and ridicule by going to a country where his presence is not recognized.
The human rights activist went on to state that there is no provision in the constitution for a private visit by the president, and so, Tinubu cannot proceed on a private visit and still be running the country. Peter Obi paid a condolence visit to the family of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who was brutally murdered by her abductors in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Obi said it is heartbreaking to witness the pain and suffering of different families due to the spate of banditry in Nigeria. After visiting the Al-Kadiyar Family, Peter Obi went to Plateau state, where he described the recent attacks as a trying moment for the people and the country.
Obi during the visit to support the party’s candidates before the February 3rd bye elections said Nigeria is facing the most challenging situation due to the alarming insecurity across the country.
