Tinubu Sacks Betta Edu, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Four Ministers, Appoints New Ministers In Major Cabinet Reshuffle

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed six ministers in a significant cabinet reshuffle, including Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Lola Ade-John, Prof. Tahir Mamman, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, and Beta Edu, who had been suspended from her role as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

The president let go of Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye, who served as the Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John, the former Minister of Tourism, and Prof. Tahir Mamman SAN OON, who held the role of Minister of Education. Joining them in the exit are Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, who was the Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, previously the Minister of Youth Development.

This major shake-up, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of his administration, comes alongside the appointment and reassignment of several key officials.

The former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Edu, has been replaced by Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda.

In addition to the newly appointed Yilwatda, Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu has been named the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Yusuf Tanko Sununu takes up the role of Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

In further reshuffles, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, who previously served as the Minister of State for Health, will now oversee the Ministry of Education, while Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim takes over as the Minister of Women Affairs, a significant transition following Ohanenye’s departure.

Additionally, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, who had been the Minister of Niger Delta Development, now leads the newly created Ministry of Regional Development, overseeing various regional commissions, including the Niger Delta, North East, and North West development commissions.

Other notable appointments include Ayodele Olawande as the Minister for Youth Development, filling the void left by Bio Ibrahim, and Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who moves from Industry, Trade, and Investment to become the Minister of State for Finance. In the same spirit of reshuffling, Uba Maigari Ahmadu was moved from being the Minister of State for Steel Development to Minister of State for Regional Development.

President Tinubu urged all new and reassigned ministers to take their roles as a call to serve the nation.

He then expressed appreciation for the outgoing ministers while calling upon the new appointees to focus on driving Nigeria’s growth
