Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the 14th Emir of Kano State, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday and praised him for his economic reforms since his assumption of office.
Sanusi’s visit comes barely one week after the President suspended Godwin Emefiele as the CBN Governor. Former military head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar also visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja making him the second former leader of the country after Goodluck Jonathan to Visit Tinubu since he became president.
In another development, The house of representatives has rejected a motion to declare a state of emergency on factors causing young Nigerians to relocate abroad.
The motion titled: Need to Declare Emigration of Young Nigerians Abroad AKA Japa Syndrome a National Emergency was sponsored by Philip Agbese, a lawmaker from Benue State, who said the growing statistics of young Nigerians relocating abroad portends a grave danger for the nation in many ways ranging from economic to intellectual and social aspects.
Aminat Yusuf a law student of the Lagos State University in Ojo, achieved the best-graduating student status with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0 in the University’s 40 years history.
Ahead of its 26th convocation ceremony, the University announced a reward of N500,000 cash prize to be awarded to the student. In other news, the lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, attended the 60th birthday celebration of his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode. Ambode, was the governor of Lagos State from 2015 to 2019, and was the first governor of the state to serve just one term in office since the return of democracy in 1999.
Sanwo Olu took to social media to celebrate Ambode while hailing his positive and significant impacts in some sectors during his tenure to the surprise of many because in 2018, Ambode spoke against the governorship ambition of Sanwo-Olu ahead of the primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos.
At the private ceremony to host the Former Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu gave a reassuring toast.
