Tinubu Praises Peter Mba, Calls for Unity and Commitment to Nigeria’s Development

President Tinubu has commended Enugu Governor Mba’s strides, urging Nigerians to prioritise unity over political differences to drive national progress.

President Bola Tinubu has lauded Governor Peter Mba for his developmental strides and called for unity among Nigerians, emphasising that political differences should not hinder progress.

Speaking during the unveiling of key projects in Enugu State, Tinubu commended the governor’s leadership and the team he has assembled to drive progress in the state.

“No matter how much of a structure you build, without a good successor, you have gotten nothing, and I am glad Enugu has a very good one. I salute Peter Mba for his commitment to development,” Tinubu said

The President highlighted the importance of technological advancement and private sector collaboration in achieving sustainable development.

He noted, “You have encouraged me on the technological advance of the state, the commitment you have from private sectors. I know your background. The election is over; we have to move the nation forward, and you are demonstrating that commitment, an irrevocable commitment to human development.”

In a show of bipartisanship, Tinubu emphasized the need to prioritize national unity over party affiliations.

“I don’t care which party you come from. You are my friend. Here is Alex Otti and many of you doing well, very focused. It is not about the differences in languages and place of birth. None of us have control over the mother tongue. We were created by God and are all members of one big family called Nigeria but living in different rooms in the same house.”

The President also used the opportunity to defend his administration’s controversial removal of the fuel subsidy, describing it as a necessary step to safeguard the future of the country.

“You cannot spend the future of generations yet unborn in advance. Don’t bankrupt the nation before they are born. You know people will fight, grumble, abuse me, but I asked for the job and I know what it takes,” he said.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to prioritise national pride and hard work, asserting that security and development are the best investments for the country’s future. He called on the people of Enugu to support their governor and collaborate to advance the state’s growth.

“Please continue to cooperate and collaborate with your son and brother who is really committed to pushing the development of Enugu State and be a good symbol for the southeastern state.”

Addressing infrastructure challenges, the President acknowledged the slow progress on the nation’s rail system, assuring that his administration was committed to resolving inherited challenges. He also underscored the importance of gas as an alternative energy source, vowing to prioritise investments in gas infrastructure.

“The question of rail line is a work in progress. I inherited some of these critical problems and I am going to do it. As for support for the gas infrastructure, sure. Gas is the alternative fuel and there is no wasting of time but to invest more in it,” he said.

Despite facing local opposition, Tinubu expressed confidence in the collective effort of state governors and Nigerians in achieving his administration’s vision.

“I am lucky I have good governors. Some may be angry with me locally, but we just have to push,” he concluded.
