Tinubu Inherited Bankrupt Nigeria + Zahi Hawass Calls For Return Of Nigeria’s Artefacts – Trending Ojy Okpe

Zahi Hawass, a world renowned archaeologist, who is responsible for the return of over 6,000 Egyptian Artefact, emphasized the ongoing challenge of reclaiming items taken by colonial rulers despite some successful efforts in certain African countries.

Many artifacts remain missing despite efforts to repatriate them. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Saudi Arabia on Monday said that his administration inherited serious liabilities, but also assets from previous administrations.

Tinubu made the comments after a meeting with the Vice President (Country Programmes) of the Islamic Development Bank, as he advanced negotiations concerning a multi-billion dollar infrastructure finance facility from the Islamic Development Bank to fund a multi-sectoral portfolio of infrastructure projects at the federal and sub-national levels in Nigeria.

According to the president’s special adviser, Ajuri Ngelae the meeting was held after Tinubu’s return from evening prayers in Mecca. The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, in the same vein attributed the current economic instability in the country to challenges inherited from the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari, stating that president Tinubu, inherited an empty treasury when he came to power.

Ribadu made the comments on Monday in Abuja at the Chief of Defence Intelligence Annual Conference 2023 while commending Armed forces for recent achievements despite a limited budget.
