Tinubu, 1411 Delegates At Cop28 Criticised By Peter Obi -Trending With Ojy Okpe

A published list by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change over the weekend revealed that Nigeria has the highest number of registered delegates from Africa with over 1,400 delegates, making it the country with the third-highest overall, in number of delegates at the conference.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who last year criticized the proposed emission cuts for Nigeria during the elections was accompanied by 138 delegates from the State House, including Nigerian-Lebanese Billionaire businessman, Gilbert Chagoury, who was named as a confidante of the president. Nigeria’s West African neighbor, Ghana registered 618 delegates for COP 28. The figure ranked as the 5th highest in Africa, behind Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya and Tanzania.

The list comprises 95 persons on the official parties list, including President Nana Akufo Ado and 523 on the party overflow list. This figure is almost double the delegation Ghana sent to COP 27 in Egypt, which was 350.

Ghanaians on social media also criticized the size of delegation. Following criticism over Tinubu’s absence at the COP28 climate summit on Friday December 1st, President Tinubu on Dec. 2nd made a remarkable speech at the summit on methane and other non-greenhouse gases.

Tinubu shared the platform with the President of COP28, Dr. Sultan Ahmed alJabar, the United States Special Envoy on Climate, John Kerry, and the Chinese Envoy on Climate, Xie Zhenhue, where he pointed out that the world’s biggest economies, the US and China, are the biggest culprits in greenhouse emmissions.

In Dubai, a video showing the moment a woman tried to block President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a group photograph with King Charles the third and other dignitaries, went viral over weekend. The president’s photographer immediately called on security to usher the woman aside.

Nigerian artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, received the prestigious title of Outstanding Georgia Citizen on December 1 at the Georgia General Assembly.

The singer shared a video on his instagram page capturing the moment lawmakers gave him a standing ovation upon the announcement of his presence.
