Tiger Woods’ teenage son Charlie achieved a milestone by hitting his first hole-in-one during the final round of the PNC Championship.
The 15-year-old holed out at the par-three fourth, propelling the father-son duo into the lead at the tournament, which features 20 major champions playing alongside a family member.
However, Team Langer, comprising Bernhard and Jason Langer, clinched their second consecutive title—and fourth overall—after Bernhard made an eagle on the first play-off hole in Orlando, Florida.
“It was awesome,” Charlie said. “No one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. On top of that, I made an ace. I don’t think I can top that.”
Tiger Woods, who returned to competitive golf for the first time since the Open in July, praised the team effort with his son. The 15-time major champion, recovering from back surgery in September, admitted he was “nowhere near competitive shape” but said,
“And that’s the whole joy of it, is to be out here with family and bonding and just the enjoyment of each other’s company.”
Another notable moment on Sunday came 30 minutes after Charlie’s achievement when 21-year-old Paddy Harrington, the son of three-time major winner Padraig Harrington, made his first career hole-in-one on the eighth hole.
Reflecting on his son’s accomplishment, Padraig Harrington remarked, “I’ve never hit a shot and been that excited before.”
