A federal high court in Abuja dismisses a lawsuit seeking to declare the seat of the Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade; his deputy, Ivara Esu, vacant following their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Ayade and his deputy, Ivara Esu defected in May 2021 from the PDP to the APC, citing the allure of working with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo held that the duo could only be removed through statutory procedures stipulated in sections 180, 188 and 189 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
To discuss more on the verdict of Justice Taiwo Taiwo is Professor Ben Ayade, Governor of Cross River State.
