Terrorists Kill Katsina Corps Commandant, Vigilantes, Injure Police Officers

The Commandant of the Katsina Community Watch Corps in charge of Kankara Local Government Area, Sanusi Hussaini, has been killed by terrorists after a gun battle with the hoodlums on Wednesday afternoon.

The Information Officer of the Council, Mr. Suleiman Ibrahim Tsiga, who confirmed the incident, said Mr. Hussaini and two members of the Nigeria Vigilante Group were killed by the criminals in Burdugau G village of the local government.

Although security agencies are yet to confirm the attack, the information officer said the terrorists also injured two police personnel and two officers of the Katsina community watch corps.

He said: “Some suspected terrorists have killed the Commandant of Katsina Community Watch Corps in charge of Kankara local government, Sanusi Hussaini, this afternoon (Wednesday) during an operation in Burdugau G.

“They also killed two vigilantes and injured two mobile police officers, including two members of the Katsina community watch corps who are currently receiving treatment at Malumfashi General hospital.

“Aside from those that have been killed by these criminals, two members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps are nowhere to be found. But efforts are on to ascertain their whereabouts by security operatives.”

He explained that residents have fled the community to seek refuge in the local government headquarters and other neighbouring villages perceived to be safed.

Tsiga, who was among the dignitaries that attended the burial rites of the victims, however said security personnel have massacred many of the terrorists and recovered motorcycles.
