Bandits Abduct Emir, 13 Family Members in Northwest Nigeria’s Kaduna State

Gunmen in Nigeria’s northernwest state of Kaduna have abducted a second class traditional ruler in a late night raid, the latest in a series of abductions in the state.
The Emir of Kajuru, Alhassan Adamu, was kidnapped at his residence in Kajuru Local Government Area with reports suggesting the terrorists also abducted thirteen of his family members including women and children.
The Kajuru emirate is approximately 30 minutes away from Kaduna town.
One of the Emir’s cabinet members who pleaded for anonymity, confirmed the attack noting that the 85 year old Emir was kidnapped alongside three women, two of his grand children, three of his aides and five others.
Sources said the Emir had summoned a security meeting a day before the attack about a potential ploy to kidnap him but security agents failed to act on it.
Several calls put across to Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, and the Police Public Relations Officer, Jalige Mohamed were not answered.
