Tems Claims Number One Spot on Billboard Next Big Sound Chart

Nigerian singer Tems has taken the top spot on the Billboard Next Big Sound Chart, a weekly chart of the fastest rising artists across the internet.

Tems’ position, a projection for the third week of May starting from the 22nd, sees her hit the number one spot after being on the charts for 4 weeks.

The RnB/Soul singer leads a list of up-and-coming stars including American Disney star Joshua Basset, Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez and Korean girl groups, Fromis 9 and Cherry Bullet.

The Next Big Sound Chart is “the fastest accelerating artists during the past week, across all major social music sites, statistically predicted to achieve future success,” according to Billboard. Rather than measuring absolute popularity, the NBS Chart shows the artists statistically most likely to become the next big sound.

Next Big Sound’s tally is measured by the US namesake company, described in its website as the “leading provider of online music analytics and insights,” with its tracking of “hundreds of thousands of artists around the world.”
