Taylor Swift has released her second album in 2020, giving fans a double reason to celebrate this year.
After the surprise release of her eighth studio album, Folklore,’ in July, Taylor Swift on Thursday announced a new record, called ‘Evermore’ on short notice- on the eve of its Dec. 11 midnight release.
On social media, Swift referred to the album as “Folklore‘s sister record.”
“To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs,” she wrote. “I’ve never done this before. In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released.”
“There was something different with folklore,” she explained. “In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning.”
On Evermore, Swift reunites with The National’s Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, Justin Vernon and “WB,” – aka William Bowery, aka Joe Alwyn, as confirmed in her recent Disney+ concert film, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.
A video for a new song, “Willow,” arrived along with the album at midnight,
‘Folklore’ enjoyed three separate visits to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and became the first album to sell a million copies in the U.S. in 2020.
