A Swiss International Air Lines flight bound for Zurich was forced to make an emergency landing in Graz, Austria, on Monday due to engine problems and smoke detected in the cabin and cockpit. The Airbus A220-300 aircraft, carrying 74 passengers and five crew members, safely landed, and all passengers were evacuated.
The incident, which occurred on flight LX1885 from Bucharest, left 12 passengers requiring medical attention. All hospitalised passengers have since been discharged. However, two crew members are still receiving medical care, with one currently in intensive care. The airline noted that the condition of the hospitalised crew member remains unclear.
Swiss International Air Lines stated it is working closely with authorities to investigate the cause of the incident but has yet to provide further details.
Most of the affected passengers are now en route to Zurich, with a flight carrying 63 of them arriving on Tuesday morning, according to the airline.
Swiss emphasised its commitment to passenger and crew safety and expressed gratitude for the swift response of emergency personnel in Graz.
