The Supreme Court has declared as invalid the Rivers State Local Government council polls held on October 5 in Rivers State, on grounds of it being held in breach of provisions of the Electoral Act.
This came after the apex court had, in a ruling on Friday, stopped the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Accountant General of the Federation from allocating funds to the Rivers State government until a valid appropriation law is passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The Court also ordered that Martins Amaewhule and 26 other members “illegally excluded” from functioning as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly resume immediately.
Details to come later
