In a recent interview on ARISE News, Lawyer and Political Analyst, Dele Farotimi, expressed his concerns over the state of affairs in Nigeria, stating that “Nothing in our country makes sense anymore.” Farotimi’s submission is on the backdrop of the federal government’s subsidy program aimed at alleviating the impact of rising fuel prices which he says it’s medicine after death, emphasizing that the palliative measures have fallen short in adequately addressing the concerns of the common citizens.
The lack of sufficient relief, according to Farotimi, reflects a disconnect between the government’s actions and the real needs of the people as well as exposes the fact that the APC has no interest in the plight of ordinary Nigerians.
As the debate over the effectiveness of the subsidy palliative continues, concerns regarding its impact on the ordinary Nigerian persist.
Farotimi also expressed grave concerns over the state of the Nigerian judiciary, stating that “it has been compromised to an extent almost beyond redemption.” Farotimi’s statement highlights serious apprehensions about the integrity and independence of the judicial system in Nigeria.
His remarks come at a time when questions and discussions regarding the judiciary’s impartiality and credibility have been raised.
As the nation grapples with the implications of Farotimi’s assertion, stakeholders and the public await further insights into the extent and possible implications of this alleged compromise within the country’s legal institutions.
Dele Farotimi further emphasized that “It is up to the judiciary to save Nigeria from itself”. He asserted that it is necessary for the judiciary to rescue the nation from its current challenges.
His remarks underscore the significance of a strong and independent judiciary in upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice, and safeguarding the democratic principles of the country.
With Nigeria facing various economic and political issues, Farotimi’s call highlights the judiciary’s responsibility to act as a pillar of stability and fairness, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s future.
