Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved the development of a second campus (annex) of the Kaduna State College of Education Gidan Waya in Hunkuyi, Kudan Local Government, in an effort to significantly increase access to higher education in the state.
This was disclosed over the weekend as Professor Sani Bello, the state’s commissioner of education, was responding to inquiries from reporters on the most recent changes in the field.
Sani, in another development to build education in the state, gave his approval for the payment of N205 million to the Kaduna State Scholarship board, in a bid to expand the operations of the agency.
These developments follow a dramatic reduction in tuition at all State-run higher schools, most notably the Kaduna State University (KASU).
As a result of the State’s recent approval of the construction of three campus annexes as well as the State’s revision of its school fees downward, there has been widespread celebration throughout the state. Leaders of the Student Union applauded the governor for being “masses-friendly” and for having Professor Sani Bello, Mainan Zazzau, as his education commissioner.
