Student Killed, Four Injured in Abuja School Explosion

An explosion at a school in Bwari Area Council, Abuja, has left one student dead and four injured.

A tragic explosion at Tsangayar Sani Uthman Islamic School in Kuchibiyu Community, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, claimed the life of a student and injured four others on Monday.

The incident occurred around noon, approximately 42 kilometres from the Abuja city centre.

Emergency responders and security personnel, including the police bomb disposal unit, arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion. The injured students were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

While details of the explosion remain unclear, an anonymous security source revealed that the deceased student, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was carrying a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) when it detonated. This caused panic and injuries among other students.

Authorities at the school were unavailable for comment at the time of this report, and the police are yet to issue an official statement. Investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing.
