Stevie Wonder Granted Ghanaian Citizenship

Music icon Stevie Wonder has officially become a citizen of Ghana, solidifying his bond with the West African nation in a heartwarming ceremony at Ghana’s Jubilee House. The legendary artist took the Oath of Allegiance and was presented with his Certificate of Citizenship, symbolizing his new status as a Ghanaian citizen.

A touching video capturing the citizenship ceremony showcases Wonder’s emotional pride as he receives his Ghanaian passport, signaling the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Ghanaians warmly embrace the music legend, welcoming him into their vibrant society with open arms.

Wonder’s decision to obtain Ghanaian citizenship comes after he publicly expressed his desire for a fresh start amidst political unrest in the United States, announcing his intention to relocate to Ghana three years ago.

In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where he expressed his wish to see the nation smile again before relocating there.

Stevie Wonder has left an indelible mark on the music industry. With an illustrious career spanning over six decades, he has garnered an impressive collection of accolades, including 25 Grammy Awards and 74 nominations since his debut with Motown Records in 1961.
