Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has expressed concern over an ankle injury sustained by superstar Stephen Curry during the Warriors’ 112-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
The 36-year-old Curry first limped off the court in the third quarter after twisting his ankle, receiving immediate treatment.
Though he returned in the fourth quarter, he quickly aggravated the injury and was escorted off the court by teammate Gary Payton II.
“He’s doing OK. He used the word ‘mild’ or ‘moderate,'” Kerr shared post-game.
“He’s obviously sprained that ankle many times before. He doesn’t think it’s too bad, but it’s a concern.”
Curry, who has a history of ankle injuries, scored 18 points before his early exit. His absence was felt as the Warriors suffered their first loss of the season.
The Clippers, led by Ivica Zubac and newly acquired James Harden, both contributed 23 points, with Zubac achieving his second consecutive double-double by adding 17 rebounds and six assists.
“Every time they needed a bucket, they seemed to get one from Zubac,” Kerr noted, emphasising the Croatian center’s key role in the Clippers’ victory.
In other NBA action, the Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons 124-118, while the Houston Rockets narrowly lost to the San Antonio Spurs 109-106.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat celebrated a 114-106 win over the Charlotte Hornets and unveiled a statue of franchise legend Dwyane Wade, the team’s all-time leading scorer and three-time NBA champion.
