Spanish Football Star Lamine Yamal’s Father Stabbed In Car Park Attack Near Barcelona

Three suspects have been arrested after Lamine Yamal’s father was stabbed multiple times in a car park north of Barcelona.

The father of 17-year-old Spanish football star Lamine Yamal, Mounir Nasraoui, was reportedly stabbed multiple times in a car park in Mataró, a coastal town north of Barcelona, on Wednesday night.

According to Spanish media, the attack occurred after Mr. Nasraoui had an earlier altercation with a group of people while walking his dog. Hours later, the same group reportedly confronted him in a car park and stabbed him. Catalan police have confirmed the arrest of at least three individuals in connection with the attack. Nasraoui was rushed to a hospital in Barcelona in serious condition, but he is now reported to be stable and expected to remain under observation for two to three days.

The stabbing took place near the Rocafonda neighborhood, where Yamal grew up. The motivation behind the attack remains unclear. The incident occurred just days after Yamal, Spain’s youngest-ever player, was named Young Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024, where he played a pivotal role in Spain’s 2-1 victory over England in the final. The streets of Mataró were filled with celebrations as fans honored their young star, who spent part of his childhood in the town before joining Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy.
