The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is arrogating to itself the power of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Sonny Iroche, the Convener and National Coordinator, Abia League of Professional Initiative has said.
Mr Iroche is accusing the NCC of falsely claiming that INEC does not have the capacity to electronically transmit election results in the 2023 general elections in spite of the election body stating it has the ability to do so.
The professional group is also demanding responses from their representatives in the Nigerian Senate over their role in rejecting a provision for electronic transmission of election results in the proposed amendments to the Electoral Act passed by the Senate.
Iroche suggested that lawmakers should be payed only when they sir, which he believes will encourage more responsibility.
